The Old Oundelian Golfing Society is open to all members of the OO Club. Golfing ability is not a prerequisite and therefore we accept members with maximum and minimum handicaps.

To join the OOGS you are requested to complete a membership form and asked to abide by the rules of the Society. We ask those who are earning and in excess of 24 years of age to pay a membership fee of £30 per annum by standing order in January of each year. Those who are not earning and under 24 pay nothing.

The OOGS has a wide variety of fixtures suitable to all levels of golfer and these take place in many areas of the country, from Deal in the south to Edinburgh in the north, and many places in between. The fixture list is on these pages and those who wish to play in any event should telephone the organiser of each fixture.

During the course of the year there are four major inter-school competitions:

The Halford Hewitt, which is played at Royal Cinque Ports GC at Deal and Royal St Georges GC in early April, where we play a knockout competition with 63 other Public Schools and our team is picked from the best golfers we have.
At the Grafton Morrish, using our best golfers again, there is an initial qualifying knockout competition in late May against other East Midland Public schools and the final rounds are played in late September at Hunstanton and Brancaster.
In July it is the turn of the over 55s at a competition called the G L Mellin Salver where, again, the side is picked from the lower handicapped golfers. The fourth major is the QECST (Queen Elizabeth Coronation Schools Trophy) which is played at the Royal Burgess of Edinburgh.

All fixtures against other schools and against the Grocers' Company are open to every OO golfer.

The most popular event of the year is the AGM which is held over the first or second weekend of October, with golf being played at Luffenham Heath GC and the eating and drinking taking place at the George of Stamford.
