The OO Cross Country Club takes part in two races each year.
The race against the current School team is held on the Saturday of the Multi-Sports Weekend in March. Although traditionally run round the School's five mile course, this year the event was run as part of an inter-school relay race, with teams running six legs of approximately 1.5 miles. Although the shorter race seems significantly more exhausting (particularly for those of us who did it twice in order to make up enough runners for two teams!), there was a good sense of team spirit generated by this format, and it was generally agreed that we would be happy to do the same again. Although we had, until recently, become regular winners against the School, this year our two groups were soundly beaten by a strong School team.

Races are typically followed by an informal dinner in the Talbot and/or even less formal drinks in the Ship.
The other annual race is the Public Schools' Old Boys Race in December organised by Thames Hare and Hounds, held over a five mile course around Wimbledon Common, London. Usually there are about 100 competitors of very mixed ability from a large number of schools, and we have done very well in the past when we have managed to field a full team.
If you are interested in running in either of these events, or if you have news of athletic feats which you would like posted on these pages, please contact Charlie Hammon (Sn 87) on 020 7859 1662 or at charles.hammon@ashurst.com.
I hope to see lots of you in Oundle next March to help restore our winning ways!
